Avocado: Florida avocados are dark green and have a smooth and shiny skin texture.
The flavor is rich and nutty. Avocados do not soften on the tree but must reach full maturity before being picked to develop full flavor. The tree acts as a storehouse; the fruit can be held on the tree for many months after it reaches maturity.

Florida avocado vatieties are low-fat with half of the fat content of California avocado varieties. Avocados should be stored between 42 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Relative humidity should be kept at 85 percent. Typical shelf life is 14 to 28 days.
The fruit is ripe when it softens to the touch, should be ripened at room temperature, and may then be refrigerated.

Hamlin Juice Oranges: A Juice Orange is the perfect start to the day. Not only does it taste delicious, but the orange pulp provides fiber to lower your cholesterol. The Hamlin and Pineapple varieties are popular and available organically grown.

Florida produces most of the juice oranges in the United States. In 1835, a freeze destroyed most of the orange trees in Florida. Only the Indian River variety survived. The entire Florida orange industry had to start again using this variety of orange.

Bright color is not necessarily an indication of ripeness. Select oranges that are firm and heavy for their size. Often, ripe oranges have a slight greening. Juice Oranges will last up to 2 weeks when refrigerated in a loosely wrapped plastic bag. Juice oranges are delicious to eat but are best when squeezed and consumed as a refreshing beverage

Tangelo: Tangelos are deliberate or accidental hybrids of any mandarin orange and the grapefruit or pummelo. The first known crosses were made by Dr. Walter T. Swingle at Eustis, Florida, in 1897, and Dr. Herbert J. Webber at Riverside, California, in 1898. They are so unlike other citrus fruits that they have been set aside in a class by themselves.

Tangelos range from the size of a standard sweet orange to the size of a grapefruit, but are usually somewhat necked at the base. The peel is fairly loose and easily removed. The pulp is often colorful, subacid, of fine flavor and very juicy. An especially fine mineola orange with a unique sweetness. They are easy to peel, have no seeds and make a rich glowing juice. A holiday favorite!
